As we welcome the new year, January is shaping up to be a meaningful and engaging month for our CalOPS community. From academic milestones to student-led initiatives and opportunities for connection, here’s what’s coming up.
School Resumes After Winter Break
We’re excited to welcome students back to class on January 5th as school resumes after Winter Break. We hope everyone had a restful and refreshing break and is ready to start the new year strong.
Last Day of First Semester
The last day of the first semester is January 28th. This marks an important academic milestone as students wrap up coursework and reflect on their progress before moving into the next semester. On this day, our teachers will focus on professional development to strengthen their teaching in Math and Language Arts. This dedicated time ensures that students continue to receive high-quality instruction and personalized support.
NJHS Anti-Bullying Awareness Initiative
Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students are leading an important initiative this month focused on anti-bullying awareness. They have created a Padlet featuring helpful resources and information, which will be shared via a flyer during Middle School LiveClasses throughout January. We’re proud of our students for promoting kindness, inclusion, and awareness within our school community.
“Trading Traditions” Community Discussion – January 22
On January 22nd, parents, caretakers, and staff are invited to take part in a “Trading Traditions” discussion. This gathering is an opportunity to share traditions that are meaningful to your family—whether they’re holiday traditions, special family routines, or places you visit together. It’s a wonderful way to learn from one another and celebrate the diverse experiences that make up our CalOPS community.
We look forward to a productive and inspiring start to the year. Thank you for being an active part of CalOPS, and we can’t wait to see what January brings!
