Special Education at
California Online Public Schools
Our team of school staff and credentialed teachers are dedicated to helping our students learn how they learn best. Meet our staff, including some of the 400+ teachers at California Online Public Schools.

Individualized Education Programs
California Online Public Schools enrolls students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). After enrollment, the school will hold an Interim IEP meeting to review the student’s previous IEP and determine appropriate placement in a parent-led Independent Study program. The IEP team will develop an IEP appropriate to the Independent Study environment, considering a continuum of special education services. The parent remains the primary implementer of instruction for the child, with the IEP team providing support in the Independent Study setting.
In addition, CalOPS works with students who have a 504 plan.
“My grandson just graduated this past June 2024 from this school and we started when he was in kindergarten. Best decision we ever made and he’s a Special Needs child. The support and guidance of the teachers, counselors and case managers gave us was unbelievable. We are definitely going to miss this school. This was our life and we loved it, all of it. You can’t go wrong with CalOPS. Thank you, CalOPS for everything you did for my grandson and I. You’ll never be forgotten.” – Grandparent of CalOPS Alumni Student
