What’s Happening at CalOPS: September 2026

September is an exciting month at California Online Public Schools! As we settle into a new school year, students, families, and teachers are getting into routines, connecting with their school communities, and preparing for a successful year of learning.

From important assessments to extracurricular activities, there’s plenty happening across our TK-12 community. Here’s a look at some of the key dates and events coming up this September.

Elementary School

i-Ready Math Testing (September 16)

Elementary students will complete their i-Ready Math assessment on September 16. The i-Ready Diagnostic helps teachers understand students’ current math skills and identify areas where they may need additional support throughout the school year.

i-Ready Reading Testing (September 23)

On September 23, elementary students will complete their i-Ready Reading assessment. Students are encouraged to work in a quiet, distraction-free environment, take their time, and do their best.

Middle School:

Homeroom Hub (September 8)

Middle school students will begin the school year with Homeroom on September 8. This is an opportunity for students to get connected with their teachers and start the new school year on the right foot.

i-Ready Math Testing (September 15)

Middle school students will complete their i-Ready Math assessment on September 16. The i-Ready Diagnostic provides teachers with valuable information about students’ current skills and areas for growth, helping to support their progress.

i-Ready Reading Testing (September 16)

Middle school students will complete their i-Ready Reading assessment on September 23. Students should find a quiet space for testing, take their time, and give each question their best effort.

Parent Webinar (September 24)

More information is coming soon.

High School

IXL Diagnostic Testing #1 (September 8 – October 2)

High school students will complete their first IXL Diagnostic assessment of the school year between September 8 and October 2. IXL Diagnostic assessments help identify skills students have mastered and areas where additional practice or support may be beneficial.

All School

Labor Day (September 7)

CalOPS will be closed in observance of Labor Day. There will be no school or LiveClass on this day.

First Day of School * LiveClasses (September 8)

The 2026/2027 school year officially begins on September 8! Students will begin their new school year and LiveClasses, kicking off another year of learning, growth, and connection at CalOPS.

We’re excited to welcome our students and families back for a new school year. Be sure to mark these important September dates on your calendar and start the year strong!
